hossrace.jpg On these fine sunny days, do you long for opportunities to be out in the sun after work but can't bear the city's jammy packed beer gardens? A night at the races is a viable alternative, if the prospect of an evening flutter on the gee gees down Sunbury way floats your boat with the Summer Series at Sunbury on Thames' Kempton Park.

Once a week, June through August, floodlit racing bolts off at 6.20pm with the last race at 9.20pm. No hats necessary but there are a couple of themed gala nights where you're welcome to fussy it up: Best of British on 14th July comes with music, fireworks and other fripperies and Irish Night on 4th August with lots of craic.

We'll be going down to explore central London's closes racecourse and lose some hard earneds at the end of the month but let us know if you get there before us.

Kempton Park has an onsite station with half hourly trains from Waterloo. General Admission for evening racing starts at £15, kids go free. Check out the Race Calendar online.
