Giant birthday cake slicing is underway at the Covent Garden Piazza with a friendly all ages crowd queued up and keen to enjoy a free taste of celebratory Victoria sponge. With the Real Food Market in full swing and more than the usual buskers drawing an audience, this afternoon's a fab time to pay a visit to one of London's most famed destinations and wish it a happy 180th birthday. Although big enough to feed 2000, pieces of the cake were moving fast - and space on the giant birthday card was becoming scarce - when Londonist left the scene.
