Preview: Museums At Night, 14 May

Deciding how to spend next Friday night is going to be tough with an curatorial cacophony of late night events happening all over London for Museums at Night. We've scuttled through the listings and bring you some quirky and niche recommendations:

  • Superstition & folklore reign at the Cuming Museum, Walworth with One Eye Grey (6-8pm, free)
Investigate Nocturnal Nature at the Grant Museum of Zoology, Darwin Building, UCL

(drop-in, 5.30-10pm, £3 - includes a glass of wine or a soft drink)

Get Stitched up at the Hunterian Museum, Lincolns Inn Fields (6-10pm, free)
  • Hark back to some Victoriana at the Ragged School Museum, E3 with artists the Parlour Collective haunting the school and highlighting the mysterious and bizarre aspects of the era (6.30-9pm, free)
  • Celebrate 100 years of nightlife at London Transport Museum (6.45-10pm, £12.50/£20 for 2)
  • Appreciate the recently saved local museum the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow to a soundtrack by the Arbutus String Quartet(until 10pm, free)
  • Explore the brand new Florence Nightingale Museum, SE1 staying open to show itself off 6-8pm (£5.80)
  • Enter the Government Art Collection off Tottenham Court Road (free but book: visitors will be admitted at 6.30, 7.30, 8.30 or 9.30pm on each day and each event will last one hour. Email [email protected])
  • Let your creativity flow at Orleans House Gallery, RIchmond (5.30-9.30pm, free)
  • And share in Tate Modern's 10th birthday joy, opening for an entire weekend's worth of free art festival and open till midnight on Friday and Saturday
