Exquisite fabrics, luxuriously rich colours and intricate, hand-sewn embroidery positively shimmered onto the catwalks this week at Bloomsbury Ballroom for this, the first ever, Indian Premier London Fashion Week (IPLFW). In a fusion of East meets West, many of the designers, from all over India, were combining classic styles from their Indian heritage and culture with cutting edge shapes and forms.
We caught the last two shows of the week from designers Arjun Agarwal - musical symbols and modern architectural inspired creations and Rocky S - sumptuous lehengas, graceful saris, modish chudidar kurtas and lavish sherwanis. and caught a glimpse of what heavenly delights we'd missed on previous days - Rehane's Anatolian opulent excesses of colour and RNA's incredibly vibrant, futuristic designs based around time. IPLFW will be back in the autumn and we'll definitely be marking our territory in the photographers pit.
