Banking On Banksy: Merchandising Street Art

Banksy recently made it on the TIME ‘most influential’ list, and here in London it is easy to see why. His presence is felt everywhere – not only on the walls, but also in the shops who cash in on his name. The most bizarre must be the Banksy Bagel Bar, which has sprang up next to the old cash machine stencil on Rosebery Avenue, Islington. They do make really delicious smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels though. Have you encountered other signs of the Banksy gold rush? Images copyright Helen Soteriou.

    Is the use of his pseudonym here not in someway potentially litigious?

      Probably, but it’d be interesting to see the court case of Banksy the street artist and those making a profit off of his (admittedly illegal) art.

      And most of his stuff isn’t boring.
