London Blend: Candid Cafe

Continuing our caffeine-fueled quest to show you some of our favourite coffee shops in London

Candidcafe120410.jpg Boho chic Candid Café is a special little place nestled a few minutes walk from Angel tube station. It can be tricky to find as it is on a nondescript side street, away from the bustle of Upper Street. But once you find it you’ll be privy to one of London’s best-kept cafe secrets.

According to the on duty barista, Candid has been in the business of serving up cappuccinos and lattes for an astonishing 20 years. The café is adorned with large paintings, vintage furniture and the large communal table is decorated with long white candles and fresh flowers. CDs and tapes line the space behind the coffee bar with an eclectic mix of music featuring the likes of the Byrds, Santana, and the Gipsy Kings.

They serve up tasty looking pecan pie, berry cheesecake, apple crumble, and chocolate cake. Hot food is also available. To find the café, take the first two lefts when you come out of the station and look out for the large white plastic horse.

Candid Cafe is at 3 Torrens Street, EC1V 1NQ
