Bomber Command Memorial Gets Political Backing

2904_command.jpg Gordon Brown and David Cameron have enthusiastically backed a proposed memorial to Bomber Command in Green Park.

The Labour and Conservative leaders, each seeking to out-emote the other in their love of Albion and reverence for the heroes of World War II, have both written to Westminster Council, encouraging them to approve the £3 million monument, despite the concerns of local residents (who, let's face it, are probably just bigots anyway). The stone memorial features a bronze statue of an aircrew; its fate will be decided when the Tory-controlled borough's planning committee meet in May.

No comment on the matter from Nick Clegg, but that's probably because, as the Daily Mail helpfully reminded us last week, the Liberal Democrat leader is in fact an English-hating, Nazi-slurring monster with a suspiciously foreign wife.
