Preview: Worn To Be Wild

KatePlumtreeSwan.jpg Kate Plumtree has tailored costumes for numerous West End theatrical productions including Wicked and The Lion King and her new exhibition, Worn to be Wild is currently at Artsdepot in Finchley as part of a national tour. Entry is free, and there's a Meet The Artist event at 7pm this evening, where Kate Plumtree will lead a group to discuss the creative process around creating her collection of evening wear and the inspiration behind the exhibition.

Her work, such as the Mute Swan pictured, is inspired by wildlife and nature and uses techniques such as dyeing, printing, painting and quilting. The exhibition includes large scale location photography taken by the artist in each creature’s natural environment, as well as fabric samples, and they are presented alongside Kate’s sketchbooks which reveal each costume’s design and construction in step by step photographs. As an added bonus, there are costumes for adult and children to try on in the dressing up area.
