Leave No Bear Behind Part 11: Another Muppet Suicide

First a distraught Elmo threw himself into Camden Lock. Then Animal, divorced of drum kit and gathering dust in a student's closet, stretched his own neck to escape the ennui. Now a third Muppet suicide reaches our attention courtesy of IanVisits.

Fozzie Bear sprang to fame as the woeful warm-up act on Jim Henson's Muppet Show. He went on to collaborate with the other Muppets on many later projects, including a memorable turn as Mr Fozziewig in the Muppets' Christmas Carol. But the comic's best days were clearly behind him. It all ended here, on Shooters Hill near Woolwich just over a week ago. It's believed that the tragic bear took his own life, throwing his furry body under a passing truck before coming to rest on the pavement like common roadkill.

Is the incident related to the other Muppet suicides? Or is it yet another manifestation of the much wider malaise affecting all toy animals? Keep sending your photographic evidence of crimes against playthings to [email protected].
