Dance Preview: Spring Loaded @ The Place

When The Place revived the Spring Loaded season of new dance two years ago, we got very excited, and rightly so. Now the clocks have sprung us forward, we're riding the skittish tide of spring to get enthused about the 2010 programme, which is as heady, eclectic and adventurous a mix as ever.

There's a performance about Bobby Sands staged on a massive running machine, the dancer as a channel for 28 people's ideas and images, wild noise and quiet song, a look at "what happens after the moment it’s all ended?" with Lost Dog's Salvage and much more.

Excellently, Spring Loaded steps outside of the Robin Howard Dance Theatre and ventures into nearby civilian territory. On Friday 23 and Saturday 24 April, watch out for dancers dotted round St Pancras International, performing in Simon Ellis' "Leaving" (Friday between 7-8pm, Sat at 12-2 and 3-5pm). Free.

The following weekend at nearby Goodenough College, Mecklenburgh Square, drop by to experience a dance, video, performance, real time cross over happening as Donatella Cabras and Gabriele Reuter present "RELAY" in collaboration with media artists Morgan Caney and Vent Media. Fri 30 April 7.30pm, Sat 1 May 2pm, 5pm & 7.30pm & Sun 2 May 12.30pm & 3pm. Tickets £8 - book now, limited capacity.

Spring Loaded runs at The Place between 10 April - 8 May. Act quick and get advance tickets for £5. Normal price £12 or try a £15 'Return' ticket which entitles you to another show at The Place for FREE if you return within 6 months. Smart! What's on when and booking info online.
