Invited along by the kids from Le Cool for a Wednesday evening of mingling and nibbling, Londonist was pleased to finally get round to trying out the “stylish and affordable East Asian cuisine” restaurant, Monsieur M. We found Monsieur's menu (which changes daily) to be tasty and, indeed, well priced. For the time being, Monsieur M. is offering a lunchtime “main meal” special for £5.60 or “lunch for a tenner” with a main, side dish and any drink.

Portions were huge and everything we sampled tasted very good. Our faves were the vegetable spring rolls. With a delicate touch of cinnamon (or was that allspice?), these moreish starters were delish. Service was with a genuine and broad smile and the setting was contemporary and a bit classier than most of the other nearby East Asian eateries.

Monsieur M. is located within Shoreditch Town Hall at 380 Old Street. Visit www.monsieurm.co.uk for more pricing info and open hours.
