Man Stabbed To Death After Football Match

1910_cpfc.jpg A police investigation is underway after the body of a man was found near Selhurst Park stadium yesterday evening. The victim, in his thirties or forties, was discovered in White Horse Lane with multiple stab wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was found at about half past eight, just two hours after the FA Cup tie between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa finished 2-2. Police have stated that there was no significant trouble between the two sets of fans, and are thus far reluctant to link the murder to the game. But there are uneasy parallels with the last time Palace put together a memorable Cup run, in 1995, when their semi-final match against Manchester United was marred by the death of supporter Paul Nixon, who was stabbed during an altercation at a Walsall pub.
