Howling Hounds Upset Herne Hill

no_dogs030210.jpg This sounds like a lose-lose situation all round: because Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has been full, some stray pooches in Lambeth have been kept in a council depot in Herne Hill, where their howling is keeping the neighbours awake. Local resident Shelley Chapman claims the temporary shelter has no heating (really?) and has – naturally – set up a Facebook group to highlight the problem. Lambeth Council says the dogs will moved to Battersea shortly, and we’d like to remind everyone again that there are lots of places you can take your pet or find a new one, rather than letting them roam free. I was going to write this story, but came to the conclusion that I’d never be able to complete it without suggesting they move the dogs to Barking. Well done for avoiding obvious puns.

I did not think of that! Clearly I’m losing it. Or was too focused on alliteration.

Or perhaps move them all to Houndslow?

Excuse me from stating the obvious – but wouldn’t someone living next door to a kennel (that has been there for some twenty years), really be surprised to find dogs barking. It’s like people living next to churches complaining about bell ringing.
