MM_Greenwich.jpg On Saturday 7 November 2009, artist Simon Pope walked a marathon from Thamesmead to Stratford, through all five Olympic boroughs (quick, name them, without cheating - or cheat after the jump) accompanied, on his 12-hour journey, by a talking tag team of over 100 local residents.

Pope walked 400m with each local, quizzing them on their recollections of Olympics of old. Commissioned by the ODA this was a project to engage the residents of the host boroughs and pool a "huge reservoir of sporting and cultural memory". Picking through their looped memories, we can begin to wonder what will stick in the mind, post 2012.

The 80 minute film will be shown continuously at Dray Walk Gallery, Old Truman Brewery alongside digital portraits of participants between 5-14 March. It will be open daily 11am-7pm, admission free. Screenings of the film are at Stratford East Picturehouse, Greenwich Picturehouse and Rio Cinema 6-7 March with introductions and Q&As. See website for details.

*The 5 Olympic boroughs are Greenwich, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest. Commit to pub quiz memory now!
