Thames Still Treacherous: SOS For Lifeboats

We all know that the Thames is a safe bet for suicides and that the current is cruel but we don't often see anyone take a topple into the drink these days. Sobering to learn then, that lifeboat crews fished 226 people out of the river in 2009. The RNLI has published the figures to raise awareness of the service and, naturally, try and raise some more cash. Amazingly, Tower lifeboat is "the busiest out of the 235 RNLI stations around the coast of Britain and Ireland." Let's keep it afloat: Saturday is their biggest fundraising day, SOS and you can support by joining their pub quiz in Borough.
