In a world where independent record stores are finding it harder and harder to survive, we tip our hats wholeheartedly to Pure Groove who, since moving into their swanky new Smithfield premises are constantly coming up with new reasons to get us in their doors.

After the success of their Top 40 Singles nights, their next foray is into film with Last.FM and The FourOhFive getting on board to help present The not So Silent Film Night. We're probably familiar with the concept of spending a night on the Southbank watching a silent movie while a lush orchestra play a specially composed soundtrack (in fact, hands up if you froze to death for a bit of Battle Potekim on Trafalgar Sq back in the day) and this is the same kind of thing done on a much smaller scale. Instead of an orchestra, the film will be accompanied by a DJ playing music specially chosen to soundtrack the film appropriately.

The January edition of the Not So Silent Film Night hits Pure Groove tomorrow night and for the grand price of £0 seems like a nice way of spending a cold Wednesday night. The Peanut Butter Jelly Time DJs are on board and the soundtrack will be to 1925's dinosaur movie The Lost World.

Pure Groove can be found at 6-7 West Smithfield. Nearrest tubes Farringdon or Barbican.
