In response to the shortlist for the Mayor's London Planning Awards, Darren Johnson has published his personal shortlist for the Worst Planning Decision Award.

Johnson's shortlist has the decision to double flights in and out of London City Airport competing against the new 'Brent Cross Cricklewood' development and great big Columbus Tower with its Crossrail cash rubbing up against the Ferrier Estate redevelopment with its loss of social housing.

In the best list, we're pleased to see the ViewTube competing for 'Best Built Project - Community Scale Scheme' and snorting slightly that the Battersea Power Station Masterplan has made it into the list for 'Best Conceptual Project' (will it ever be anything but). The Gherkin's up for a 5 years on award and the redeveloped Highbury Square, around the old Arsenal Stadium, is shortlisted in 3 categories: 'Best Built Project', 'Best New Place to Live' and 'Best Historic Building Management'. The Mayor will pick one project as his recipient of the Mayor's Planning Award.

All awards will be announced in March.
