I’m An Arsenal Fan, Admits Jay-Z

In an early contender for Press Gazette scoop of the year, The Sun has revealed that rapper Jay-Z is a fan of big arses big fan of Arsenal. Beyonce’s other half, who when in the UK prefers to be known as “Jay Zed”, was spotted watching the side (and winding up Noel Gallagher) when they played at Manchester City last September, and confirmed his faith in the Gunners to the newspaper’s Bizarre column. Zed also promised to fly the team over to New York for some big pimpin’ should they win the Premier League this year, and in return Arsenal say that, anytime he’s in town, the rapper and his missus are welcome to VIP seats at the Emirates. The man born Sean Carter joins a long list of A-list celebrity Arsenal fans, including Natalie Appleton, the late Jeremy Beadle, and Osama bin Laden.

    Not quite — the claim was first made in a (not particularly well regarded) biography of ObL by Adam Robinson called Behind The Mask of Terror. The News of the World then ran with the story.
