So, you were planning to get fit this January, right? And you went out and bought the clothes to do it in. If said new garments have lain unworn ever since, we've got the perfect exhibition for you: 30 Years of Pineapple at The Fashion and Textile Museum.

A top 60s model and shrewd businesswoman, Debbie Moore set up Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden back in 1979. Once she had a successful, affordable dance space on her hands, she spotted a new gap in the market: nice, comfy dancewear. At the time, everything was shiny Nylon Lycra. Together with DuPont, Moore developed cotton Lycra, and watched a clothes revolution take place.

This exhibition at London's Fashion and Textile Museum looks at the impact this new fabric had: new looks by the Pineapple label included the Body (pre-Donna Karan), leggings, and the Boyfriend sweatshirt. Moore also designed the first cotton Lycra dresses; simple, fitted shapes in an easy-to-wear fabric. And we really can't thank her enough.

In addition to burning a few calories looking around the free exhibition, you should also check out their special events:

A talk by Debbie More on 4 Feb

A dance class by Urban Jazz Moves on 6 Feb

A pattern cutting for Lycra class on 16 Feb

We can't guarantee you'll feel fitter afterwards, but it all sounds more fun than hitting the gym, right?

The "30 Years of Pineapple" exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum is free until 24 February. Opening times: Wed-Sun, 11am-6pm; last admission at 5.15pm. See www.ftmlondon.org for more information.
