Shoot and Eat: Franco Manca

Celebrated pizzeria Franco Manca have opened a new branch on Chiswick High Road thus entering dinner territory. (Their original branch in Brixton Market is daytime only, Monday to Saturday.) PIctured above is a meat special at this new branch – sausage from Napoli, wild broccoli and smoked mozzarella on their long fermented sourdough bases. Londonist is becoming a big fan of these white pizzas. If you still prefer some tomato on yours, take a look at the chorizo, tomato and mozzarella pizza below; it was absolutely gorgeous. And if that’s still not enough flavour for you, there are bottles of very moreish garlic and chili oils on every table. With all the post-Christmas sales about, perhaps you’d rather spend your dough (haha!) on new clothes or a new TV rather than blow it all on dinner. Well, the most expensive pizza here doesn’t even top £7. The only downside? Still no desserts.

    Puddings:
We have now been working sometimes on puddings. As from tomorrow (Friday February 22) we will have 2 ice creams and a sorbet -all natural ingredients.
We are also working on an old spelt and ricotta recipe which we are producing with organic ingredient from the Mendip area. Another pudding will be butter and biscuits base. These two will be on the menu by the end of the month.
There are also some small teasers/snacks for £2 to 2.90 (including an homemade gloucester old spot sausage with Alham Wood Organic Farm caciocavallo, a cheese that I developed there from an old neapolitan recipe, a sort of harder mozzarella that hangs for about 2 weeks. This baked in the wood oven with is proving really good, It will also be on the menu tomorrow.
