Every day until Christmas the Londonist team will be pointing you in the direction of a Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won't already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we'll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings...

Haven't a clue what to buy a certain someone for Christmas? Why not make them something? Usually the reserve of the extremely talented or the last resort of the terminally skint, anyone can make something unique and gorgeous with a little dose of creative juices from The Making Space in Shoreditch.

With instruction and materials provided by professional prop-maker Simon Aronson (pictured, showing us how to make chainmail), you'll end up with something special to take home. Perhaps you'd like a personalised cane for the gent in your life? Or chainmail jewellery for your fair damsel? And if you're still so unoriginal as to give chocolates, you could at least make them bespoke chocs that you sculpted, moulded and cast yourself. A range of different workshops are available on weekends and evenings, from steampunk kaleidoscopes to charm bracelets. There's even a session on painting and engraving your own Christmas baubles on the 16th.

Sessions start at £20 and vary depending on the particular workshop. Check out The Making Space calendar for upcoming events and how to book. Contact Simon if you've bought a session and would like to give it as a gift - he'll send out a gift ticket to go under the tree.
