Santa's Lap: Build Your Own Big Ben

BigBenBuildOwn.jpg Every day until Christmas the Londonist team will be pointing you in the direction of a Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won't already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we'll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings...

It won't do the bongs in the same way as the real one, but it's still deeply impressive to have your own version of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament - especially a version you've built yourself. The Big Ben Clock Tower 3D Woodcraft Construction Kit gives the lucky recipient a chance to pop out all the pre-cut pieces then slot them together in order to have their own seat of government in the living room.

No knives, no tools, no hilarious DIY power tool and / or glue mishaps necessary. In the spirit of flat pack hackery, however, we can see the creative types within the readership having a bash at this in a 3D version of our Touch Up London series. If anyone reading this gets one of these kits, or the equally great Tower Bridge construction set, we would really, really, really like to see how you tackle it as if Photoshop has come to life. Seriously, we would like to see that. Also any videos of yourselves dressed as Godzilla, stamping all over the light wooden structure.

Order from Amazon - stocks look low but hey, build your own Big Ben kits are not just for Christmas, they're for any time you want to put together a major London monument in your home. Get in an order now!
