North London Power Failures

North London really isn't having fun when it comes to Christmas power. In addition to the 1,000 homes in East Barnet who lost gas (and later, electricity) on 20 December - around 100 of which are still cut off - 2,715 homes in West Finchley lost electricity this morning. Half were back on within a few hours, but the rest are still waiting. Given Londonist's own experiences with EDF during this bloody chilly spell - our street had two power cuts last Monday - we wish West Finchleans the best of British and add 'basic utilities' to the list of things that take forever to sort out when the weather gets bad.
