Sad news: Peter Moore, town crier to the City, Westminster, Southwark, GLA and Mayor and basically de facto town crier of the whole of London, died at his home in Wandsworth on 20 December. He’d been in the job for over 30 years and was due to receive a lifetime achievement award during the New Year’s Day parade. His ruddy face and loud, trademark call of “Oyez, oyez” will be much missed around the streets and landmarks of the capital.
