Splendid news for the last few days of Kew Gardens' 250th anniversary year. Despite being wrongly identified as home of the Millennium Seedbank in the original BoJo backed 'Only in London' campaign earlier this year (corrected, thanks to Diamond Geezer), the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew have had a bumper year for new additions to the botanical registers. Almost 300 species were described by researchers working in over 100 countries.
Although the Treetop Walkway is currently closed due to the weather conditions, there's plenty of seasonal stuff going on: horse and carriage rides, guided tours, a carousel, face painting and, of course, Santa's in his grotto until tomorrow night. The perfect trip out for exhausting overexcited kids or walking off the Christmas indulgence and admiring this beautiful place in midwinter. Kew is open everyday except 24th & 25th December.
