Christmas Tree Cost Doesn't Stand Up To Scrutiny

Highgate-dwellers are aghast that Haringey council contrived to blow £1,500 on a Christmas tree in their 'burb that fell over at the first sight of a breeze. Despite costing a mere £150 to purchase, erecting the tree necessitated a further expenditure of £250. Throw in an additional £400 on lights, and a spurious £700 cost on the ubiquitous health and safety, and you've got a pricey pine. Rubbing grit into the gouge, the tree, described by local traders as an "ugly, garden centre-like" beast, toppled over when the snow began to fall.
