More than 300 residents have been evacuated following a huge blaze in Peckham. The fire began at 4.30am this morning on a construction site in Carisbrooke Gardens, and soon spread to nearby houses. The scale of the blaze can be seen in this eyewitness video:
In another video, a small explosion can be heard, possibly a gas canister.

The BBC have some of the best photos, which show a devastated row of houses. The fire is now under control. Fortunately, it appears that nobody was harmed – but many people will have lost their homes and possessions.
