What did we do to deserve this? Rumours are zipping about that the Spice Girls are planning a comeback just in time for the 2012 Olympics. The Girl Power-ed fivepiece are set on wheezing a little bit more life into their careers by performing at the opening ceremony. Said manager Simon Fuller: "The demand for them as a band is as strong as ever." Well, as strong perhaps as the band's last comeback in 2007, which despite an initial surge of interest fizzled out after the treacly joy of nostalgia wore off. Even the Girls' most ardent fans would concede that the pop music world has moved on since their late-Nineties heyday; parading them at 2012 would be an insult to our modern, more talented musicians.

Argh! Let's all be very angry at this.

Ah, do you know what though - 'I'll tell ya what I want, what I really, really want' etc... is to PODIUM. It could work! That with Spice up your Life for the opening ceremony. Then Viva Forever and Goodbye for the closing. Done and dusted.

Good. It's about time Sporty Spice (if that is her real name) lived up to her moniker.
