If there's one space in London that makes us glad we're living in the 21st century, it's Wellcome Collection's Medicine Man Gallery. Any length of time spent among the amputation saws and birthing implements on show has us breathing a sigh of relief for anaesthesia and epidurals.

To gain a perspective on the Gallery that captures London's medical past, two of the team behind the BBC's Casualty 1909 are leading a tour of Medicine Man this week. Dr John Powell is a public health physician and psychiatrist, and worked as a medical adviser to 'Casualty 1909' advising the writers on storylines and providing on set advice for specific procedures. Suzy Strong was one of the producers of the series and has played an integral part in the development process of all the Casualty 1900s docudramas. Join them this Thursday to discover what Henry Wellcome's collection of medical objects tells us about the health of our ancestors and of ourselves.

Perspectives Tour of the 'Medicine Man' collection with Suzy Strong and Dr John Powell is on Thursday 19 November at 2pm and FREE. Get there early and meet at the Information Point. Wellcome Collection, Euston Road NW1.
