House Of Commons Christmas Tree Collapse

The lastest Westminster casualty isn't some expense-happy MP forced to fall on his or her sword, but the Commons Christmas tree, which was knocked over by last night's strong winds. The 50ft tree, which sits beside Big Ben's clock tower, is being re-erected at this moment, and should be in place before nightfall; there is no danger to the public, contractors insist. It's not the first time a Crimble-themed behemoth has gone walkabout in London — three years ago Frosty, a 12 metre-tall snowman at Canary Wharf, found himself in all kinds of trouble during storm weather.
