Greens Bash Boris Over Tree Planting Fail

leafykilburn.jpg One election promise Boris was swift to deliver on was scrapping the free mayoral newspaper The Londoner to save money, promising to spend it on priority parks and planting much needed trees. But quizzed at the LDA, Boris was accused of botching his promise by Green Party member, Darren Johnson, who noted TFL had been ripping up street trees and not replacing them. The Mayor blamed utility works for the tree killing but all we care about is that we're left with a net loss of 328 of our leafy friends in the last 12 months. Good news for street sweepers at this time of the year, perhaps, but sad news for us tree huggers. (Image / Matt From London)
