Church Objects To Hire Bike Scheme

Churchmen at the Brompton Oratory in Kensington are taking a NIMBY-ish stance to the location of a docking station for TfL's new hire bikes. They say putting the station, which holds 28 of the forthcoming bikes, outside the church will "disturb the congregation" and clutter the pavement. In an example of inter-religious passive-aggression, the Revered Julian Large recommended they be parked outside the nearby Ismail Centre instead. But the church is surely missing a potential marketing coup here: in the long-running ecclesiastical enigma of what would Jesus drive?, the answer is surely to be found on two wheels instead of four.

They are half right.. And most people don't even know how to ride a bike, let alone be polite while driving one.. Or even pay attention..

It seems like I almost hit a bike every single day on my way to work. They just do their own thing..
