Watch The First Trip On The New ELL

shoreditch_bridge.jpg The BBC has a speeded up (and edited) video of the first train to run on the extended East London Line between New Cross and Dalston. It takes 32 seconds to watch (presumably longer in real life) and, as our friends at Brockley Central point out, it's interesting to see all the shiny new bits of infrastructure that have been put in place for this to happen. The line is now into testing phase, and London Reconnections says it's expected to be handed over to London Overground on 18 January for final trials. If all goes well, we might be able to take it ourselves on 23 May. Excited? (Image by headlessness under a Creative Commons licence)
