Thames Clippers Woolwich Service Gets Four More Years

A press release from TfL dropped into our inbox yesterday afternoon stating that, thanks to the munificence of Mayor Boris Johnson and Greenwich Council, the Thames Clipper river service that plies between the O2 and Woolwich has been secured for at least another four years. A £269,000 sum has been put forward to ensure the same level of service continues until 2013. The deal helps maintain Boris' pledge to 'revolutionise' river transport; it's also good news for those living in Woolwich's Royal Arsenal development, a gated community populated mainly by commuters who enjoy the benefits of Woolwich residency — the affordable housing, say — but seldom go into the ungentrified town itself and make use of the Thames Clipper service to pretend that they live in Greenwich.
