A new London Assembly report urges Boris to set the wheels in motion for turning more of our non-recyclable waste into energy. "Where There's Muck There's Brass" (oh dear) says Londoners produce rubbish to fill Canary Wharf every 8 days, and that converting it into electricty and heat could serve up to 2m homes. It could also reduce our CO2 emissions by 1.2m tonnes a year, which will help meet EU targets and the Mayor's own emissions pledges. This Londonista passes the Deptford "energy recovery facility" every day, and until we all have our own solar power stations, it seems like a good idea to us.
