Comedy Preview: Bottle Rocket @ New Players Theatre

MarkWatson_BottleRocket.jpg Bottle Rocket have been supplying the Midlands with chuckles for a while now, and they've decided it's high time they exported their nights of laughter to our glorious capital. But they're shunning the baying pits of comedy clubs and opting instead for the intimate elegance of the New Players Theatre.

Kicking the whole scheme off on Sunday is Holly Walsh, who'll be introducing a pretty stellar line-up for £14 (or £12 if you're jammy enough to qualify for a concession). There's Mark Watson, who'll doubtless be acknowledging those pear cider ads in a manner far funnier than the ads themselves, 6Music's Jon Richardson and Sarah Millican, the laid-back Geordie with the filthiest gags. There's also the mystery of which TV Star Special Guest will be doing a 20 minute set.

If you don't fancy making it a weekend of comedy (Jason Cook's on Saturday, you know) you could always put a mark in your diary next to 1 November, when Londonist favourite Robin Ince will further polish his finely tuned hosting skills on Dan Clark, Carl Donnelly, Tom Basden and the barely-legal Jack Whitehall.

Bottle Rocket Presents... at the New Players Theatre, The Arches, Villiers Street on 4 October and 1 November 8pm, tickets £14 / £12. For more information visit the Bottle Rocket or New Players websites.
