The Holy Aubergine of Hendon

0208.hindu.jpg Londonist has always looked for castles in the sky and faces in the fire, and so we were delighted to read that Aum (that's 'om' to you) has been found in an aubergine in Hendon. It matters not a whit that most eggplants have similar markings inside, as symbolism is invariably in the eye of the beholder. We see things that we want (or need) to see, whether a matter of faith or simple optimism, and this is all for the good. From basic astrology to the tale of the M above the eyes of a tabby cat, we have always looked to the mysteries of nature to find answers and inspiration. So revered aubergines we can handle. Hendon as a place of pilgrimage worries us though... (Image/Fin Fahey)
