Even a youthful Unabomber couldn't have conceived a forest redoubt this cool. The Treehouse Galleries in Regent's Park are about the funnest thing you'll take your toddler to this summer.
We say toddler, but really, the treehouses are in part all about the child within us jaded adults, the one that used to scurry up trees and hastily build jerry-rigged hideaways with the aid of a few sheets of balsawood filched from the garden shed, in the days before parents were too scared to let the little ones out of sight. At least, that's how it felt for this Londonista.
Enough with the childhood memories. The gallery is, according to those responsible, an "innovative public project featuring a free daily program of events, arts, musicology and activities". There are two treehouses to climb, a "sound garden", "orbidesic dome stage", and various other bits and pieces scattered round. But forget all that: it's essentially a great big playground where kids and unimpeded adults can run wild, get dirt under the fingernails, and counter all the well-reported debilitative effects of a life spent indoors infront of a PS3.
