A smorgasbord of venues along the canal will be offering free tasters of their fine treats to the peckish. Download and print your free taste guide (PDF) then amble along the waterway, ticking off each one you sample. Some of the venues taking part include the Water House in Osman Road, Broadway Market's L'Eau a la Bouche, and the Canalside Café, while a local tipster suggests paying attention to the Rock It Diner on Mile End road, previously known as Halaliano, a Mediterranean Halal restaurant famous for a doner-kebab pizza.
If you can find it, the canal-flavoured ice cream makes the perfect dessert.
