Being partial to all things nice and spicy it's tastebud tantalising that Horniman Museum is running a Jerk Cookout this weekend, to find the best jerk chicken in South London.

25 chefs will line up to create 2 jerk dishes: 1 classic and 1 with an unusual twist. We loved the two chilli cook offs we've eaten our way through but the prospect of savouring many versions of the hot spice dry-rubbed Jamaican classic, aromatically barbecued over sizzling hot coals, seems perfect for a late summer Sunday afternoon. We'll be at on the cooking frontline to capture jerk in the making and - most importantly - make up our own minds!

The Horniman Jerk Cookout Festival is this Sunday, 9 August between 1-6pm. Judging between 4-5pm. Electric slide formation dance British record attempt between 5-6pm.
