Train Strike To Affect Liverpool Street Tomorrow

Thursday update: Liverpool Street "A Ghost Town"

A strike planned for tomorrow, Thursday 30th July, by members of the RMT and Aslef unions is likely to bring most National Express East Anglia services out of Liverpool Street to a halt, and lead to transport chaos at the station. The unions are inveigling National Express to raise pay by a minimum 2.5%, something the company, whose economic woes on their East Coast mainline franchise recently led the Government to confiscate it, are unwilling to do, and it's commuters who'll yet again suffer. The strike is expected to last 48 hours, but don't think for a second this'll be the end of it — further industrial action in the coming weeks is promised.
