Tottenham's Darren Bent In Twitter Brouhaha

Social media and footballers just don't make natural bedfellows, it seems. Last year it was the Crystal Palace winger bigging up his transfer plans on Facebook, much to the chagrin of his employers; now striker Darren Bent is accused of making some foul-mouthed comments on his Twitter account. The Spurs striker, poised for a move to Sunderland, apparently became frustrated when the deal slowed as both sides struggled to settle on a fee. Yesterday lunchtime, tweets appeared on an account purportedly belonging to the striker, saying he was "seriously pissed off". Things later became even more animated, with one tweet saying bluntly, "stop fucking around levy" in reference to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. The account, "db10thetruth", which it's believed is regularly used by the player, has since been removed from Twitter, but as a way of speeding through deal that could run up to £16.5 million, this wasn't the brightest move.
