More Summer Of Local Love

A sneak preview of LIFT's Shoreditch Festival Parade plans
Last week we highlighted some of the brilliant local festivals going on around the boroughs this summer and we got some great tip offs in response, telling us about even more great happenings that hadn't yet hit our radar. And so we share:

Next Saturday is Lewisham People's Day at Mountsfield Park, Catford and it's celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It's so well organised that the map is colour coded so you don't end up in the "high energy" area when all you want is a picnic and a beer. There will be music of all sorts throughout the afternoon, community stalls, a craft market, "Extreme Bike" arena, dancing (street to folk and back again), artsy performery things, a solar cinema - seriously, there will be something that appeals to you. Check out the full programme for 11 July, 12-7pm here.

Shoreditch Festival returns over the weekend of 17-19 July, this year investigating "earthly delights" through arts and performance. Proms return to Shoreditch Park on evening of the 17th and Saturday 18th sees the park transformed into a mad garden of earthly delights with the usual parade (this year led by LIFT) lots to entertain the kids, plus music, dancing, relaxation zone, silent slapstick film, a dog show and lots of wordy things.

Crystal Palace Triangle Free Festival takes place all day on 25 July. We're yet to be convinced that Crystal Palace is the "Left bank of south London" but let's keep an open mind. Crystal Palace Triangle is the area bounded by Church Road, Westow Hill and Westow Street and the organically grown festy sounds old skool with local traders joining in the fun and stallholders crowding the street with bric a brac and homemade cake. Less traditionally, "Crystal Palace Has Got Talent" will crown the day - download an application form now. There's no website for the event as yet but if you want to take part or find out more email info@hermana.co.uk.

Looking ahead to August there's something pretty special happening in Barking. Mark 21-31 August in your diaries and we'll tell you more about the LIFT Molten Festival nearer the time.

Thanks for all the tips and keep them coming - we need you to be our eyes and ears in the parts of London we can't always reach, email londonist@gmail.com. And don't forget to take photos if you go along to these things and add them to the Londonist Flickrpool. Thanks!

Info about the ongoing Sydenham Arts Festival, Ealing Summer Festival and the upcoming Lambeth Country Fair is here.
