Last Minute Listing: Hidden Rivers And Subterranean Skeptics

We've got a double-whammy of suggested talks tonight, taking place practically next door to each other on Holborn. At 6pm, the currently ubiquitous Iain Sinclair will be speaking about the lost rivers of London...only metres from the course of the River Fleet at Barnard's Inn Hall. We hope to hear more about the Hackney Brook, which Sinclair covers only tangentially in his recent book about the area. This is a Gresham College event, so you can just turn up without booking. We expect this to be popular, however, so get there early. As soon as that finishes, leg it over to the Penderel's Oak about 200 metres west of the Hall for tonight's Skeptics in the Pub event. Tonight, cognitive scientist Bruce Hood explores why so many people hold supernatural and religious beliefs. The talk, deep down in the basement bar, nominally starts at 7pm, but they're always a little delayed so you should have time to fit Sinclair in first.
