You'd have to have been working in the deepest basement office to miss the violent hail storm that hit the capital around 6.30pm yesterday. Rail services between London and Norwich were severely disrupted following lightening strikes. In London, meanwhile, many local rivers were on flood alert.
Photographer Steve Mahon sends us these images from Chingford, where flash floods caused havoc thanks to a swollen Ching Brook. The waters briefly rose to around one metre, and motorists on King's Head Hill had to be rescued by the Fire Brigade. Check out more of Steve's photographic work here.
