It's been a bad year thus far for the relationship between lorries and lady cyclists. This morning a woman was knocked off her bike by a lorry turning left into Bellendon Road in Peckham. Police at the scene say that the hospital 'is doing all they can to help her': the mangled remains of her bike were too poignant for Londonist to go photograph - we are but amateur bloggers rather than hardened newshounds. Peckham High Street is likely to remain closed for another hour or so. Boris really needs to do something a bit sharpish if his Summer of Cycling is to get off the traffic lights.

I saw this on my way in this morning and arrived maybe 10 minutes after the event. I had a feeling it was a cyclist and as a cyclist myself it was a horrid reminder to be extra careful.
Well done to all the emergency services teams that responded. They arrived quickly and soon had the area cordoned off so that the person could be helped.
Latest on that cyclist is that she's OK.
The emergency services in London are pretty wonderful.
Wish the police response time for crime was as good.
