London's Next Generation Needs You!

Baby on board.

If you can't afford to eat out in swanky restaurants, you might as well stay in, watch a video, and procreate. And as birthrates continue to soar, that's exactly what Londoners appear to be doing.

With the rise of births comes the inevitable health-care crisis: There aren't enough midwives around to deliver the babes. Since 2001, the number of yearly births per midwife has gone up by 6.5 per cent in England. Now, health officials are looking for more women to help deliver London's bundles of joy. Thirty women have already been recruited to help with home births, and the NHS hopes to find 4,000 more by 2012.

If you fancy helping deliver the next generation of Londoners, you could receive a 'golden hello' of £1,500, along with free training, childcare support, and travel costs.
