The mayor’s plan to build an inhabited bridge in London meets with scepticism mere months after scrapping plans for a pedestrian and cycle bridge between Rotherhithe and Canary Wharf. And that’s not to mention the axing of the Thames Gateway bridge project. Crossing the Thames is becoming a thorny subject for Boris - he’s also showing signs of reneging on his pre-election promise to reinstate the Blackwall Tunnel tidal flow. Perhaps a bridge intended for its purpose, you know, actually crossing the river, would be more useful than an excuse to build more luxury flats and Starbucks?
