FAMOUS launches 3 May
Well, if the pre-chatter about new upcoming clubnights is true, the question posed by Bros in their 1987 No.2 single* is finally about to get an answer.
'FAMOUS' is the name, and very much the game for this new monthly gay clubbing night shortly to open its doors at swanky modern Cuban bar and club Floridita. (The bar is already a Londonist favourite, we have to admit. The cocktails, the memories, *sigh*).
With London's gay scene in constant flux, the momentum has definitely tilted the whole thing towards Sarf London - so to get something new going on Wardour Street seems only fair. The night promises 'a return to true glamour' at THE 'place to get papped' where you'll feel like 'a million dollars' and 'a superstar'. In translation we reckon this is going to be a plush night out (so wear your best frock). Their wise choice of launch date (Bank Holiday Sunday in two weeks' time) means you can really let your hair down (if you have any).
This Londonista will be going to see what's going on and check that it chimes with Floridita's legendary history in the pop, rock and punk narrative of the 70s and 80s. (We don't know if Bros ever went, though. Best not to mention it there as you'll be showing your age. And that'll never do if you're to 'get your picture in the pa-pers'.)
