Preview: Short Films of Jamie Travis @ ICA

A good thing about being in the -ist network are the tips you get from your sister sites. Via Torontoist, we heard that Canadian filmmaker Jamie Travis was coming to London for an evening at the ICA. We got hold of his films, which we loved, and then received the glamorous PR from the ICA itself and realised we had a real gem on our hands.

Shorts appeal to us - we who have to fit most things into 300 words appreciate such concision in other media. Jamie's night at the ICA is a retrospective, featuring 5 of his films. Live through the extraordinary anti-romance of Pauline and Michael in the hyper-designed, slightly sinister, suitably poignant and lapsing into musical by the 3rd part Patterns Trilogy. Gird yourself for the tragic case of the Saddest Boy in the World, suicidal in his pastel coloured birthday party world and the forcibly omniverous children coping with their demented, sick mother in Why The Anderson Children Didn't Come To Dinner.

Such a stylised and twisted take on life is only to be relished. Book now.
